Pride Month 2024

Jun 28, 2024

Introduction

WCS is proud to champion diversity and inclusion within our workforce. This Pride Month, our LGBTQ+ network took center stage, hosting a series of educational initiatives and a best-dressed competition to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

Educating and Empowering

Throughout June, the LGBTQ+ network curated a series of internal content designed to educate employees about Pride Month's history, significance, and the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights.

Celebrating with Style

To add a touch of fun to the festivities, the network hosted a "Best Dressed for Pride" competition. Employees were encouraged to showcase their most vibrant and creative Pride outfits.

A Diverse and Welcoming Workplace

At WCS, we believe that our strength lies in the richness of our people. We foster a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. Our commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion is unwavering, and we're proud to celebrate the vibrant tapestry of identities that make WCS a truly special place.

Here What Our LGBTQ+ Chair Has to Say:

Janete Barbosa"Human Rights have always been a passion of mine and those associated to the LGBTQ+ community are very near and dear to my heart. I think I can speak for the team in extending that sentiment. One of the first things that attracted me to working at WCS was their strong value in helping and supporting staff. The EDI Employee Led Networks were further evidence of the company’s passionate belief in Equality and Diversity.

LGBTQ+ topics are not easy topics to traverse in our world but that does not have to be the case in the workspace. Our team encourages inclusion and provides a safe space for members of the community to meet, converse and find assistance when necessary.

We have consistently focused on creating awareness about our community and it’s rights within the workspace. As mentioned we provide regular informative posts on our internal staff portal about the various topics related to the community, we hold monthly team meetings and we have just completed a very successful, inter-entity PRIDE month. I’m very proud of the offices and staff that took part, showing support, decorating their offices and interacting on our posts.

Our team also grew over this month, taking on two new members, one of which sits in Camberley. We hope to see more membership and participation across the entities in the future."

Finally, the team and membership is open to anyone, whether an ally or member of the community. It is a safe space. Come join us for a chat or a look around.
