Cowley-Manor

Cowley Manor is a magnificent country house set in 55 acres of parkland; its gardens are famous for its lakes and Victorian cascades.

Challenge

As part of a full refurbishment an sewage treatment plant was installed by others with discharge to the nearby lake. However the new plant failed to achieve its design performance and after various modifications and pressure from the Environment Agency.

Solution

Detailed assessment was undertaken to provide adequate compliance with the Environment Agency’s discharge standards.

Following acceptance of the proposals a new HiPAF (off mains drainage) sewage treatment plant was installed adjacent to the original plant which became redundant.

It was important that installation could be undertaken without interruption to the Hotel’s business and with minimum inconvenience to the guests and staff. The screening-off of the working area and careful planning of deliveries was a major consideration.

Stuart McPherson, hotel manager said,I was surprised that a such a major installation was undertaken with so little inconvenience and was particularly impressed that the full performance of the plant was achieved so quickly and continued to be maintained well within the required standard. “
