Air Hygiene

Reliable air quality, clean air, air quality monitoring and optimised HVAC systems

We assess, monitor, report and improve indoor air quality and ventilation which reduces the risk of airborne pathogens, contaminants and other environmental hazards.

Poor air hygiene and management can trigger ill-health, Sick Building Syndrome and forced absence by building occupants. Crucially it is can also lead to rising and higher than necessary building operation costs (energy consumption) and expensive remedial works – ducting, carpeting, ceiling tiles.

Reliable air hygiene is about human health, wellbeing, compliance and reducing operating costs and the environmental footprint. Our air hygiene solutions include performance / energy audits, coil cleaning, filter replacement management and monitoring for industrial manufacturers, major global hotel chains and public buildings.

  • Commercial air conditioning and refrigeration systems
  • Where large quantities of air are managed and heat and humidity are removed
  • Environments where air is circulated many times
  • Especially schools, hospitals, hotels, retail areas, data centres, industrial buildings, large commercial spaces
  • New build (poor specification is common to reduce build costs)
  • Older buildings with aged plant and equipment
  • Poorly maintained buildings
  • Change of use situations

We work with Site and Contract Managers, HVAC engineers, H&S officers and FMs to test, monitor, recommend, improve and service plant and equipment which controls, manages and maintains indoor air quality and ventilation hygiene – without compromise.

Why invest in air hygiene?

  • Compliance
  • Reduce risk of fire
  • Prevention of ill-health including asthma, headaches, tiredness, dry throats, stress and forced absence
  • Manage plant deterioration
  • Reverse escalating operational costs
  • Workplace Regulations 1992, Regulation 5 (1), 6 (33)
  • The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (as amended)
  • Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) COSHH Regulation 9 (2004)
  • HVCA TR / 19 Internal Guide to Cleanliness of Ventilation Systems
  • The Occupiers Liability Act (1994)

Our technical, monitoring, training and compliance teams provide the essential support you need:

Ventilation System Monitoring >

Ventilation systems can be complex and require regular inspection, cleaning, testing and maintenance. We perform surface contaminant monitoring tests – Deposit Thickness Test (DTT) and the Vacuum Test (VT) in accordance with The Heating and Ventilation Contractors Association (HVCA) recommended guidelines. DTT measures the thickness of contaminants on the surface of ductwork while VT weighs contaminants taken from the system. We report on results and help building managers remain safe and compliant.

Ventilation System Cleaning >

Air Conditioning and refrigeration systems removing humid and warm air automatically create condensation which can damage equipment and is a major source of nutrients for microbiological growth (bacteria). This can lead to buildings with mould spores and other harmful organic matter both in water and air systems and occupational health risk.

Bacteria can become concentrated and lead to system blockages, reduced cooling effect, increased energy consumption, odour, property damage from condensation, increased maintenance costs.

STAYCLEAN is an impressive solution that minimises damage and bacteria growth in AC and refrigeration systems because it continuously cleans cooling coil and condensate trays for up to 6-months minimising cleaning, labour and system downtime.

STAYCLEAN Coil Treatment contains UV additives – UV light enables us to visibly see the coverage of STAYCLEAN on plant and equipment for enhanced monitoring and analysis.

AQ Testing & Monitoring >

Standard parameters including comfort factors (assessing ambient temperature range, humidity, airflow), gasses and the build-up of carbon dioxide, contaminants and bacteria are all possible with wireless monitoring providing real-time holistic data and analysis of air quality and building health.

This is essential for human safety, health and on-going compliance.
