Interserve-Defence-Falkland-Islands

The South Atlantic island is one of 14 British overseas territories that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) protects, with British Sovereignty for the Falkland Islands dating from 1690 – the first recorded landing was made by an Englishman, Captain John Strong.

The original packaged sewage treatment plant for the MOD base on the Falkland Islands site was in disrepair, requiring a total refurbishment. The old system was replaced with a stand alone packaged sewage treatment plant, which did not need to use any existing assets apart from the inlet wet well and final outfall pipe. The plant consisted of 4 lamella settlement tanks and four SAF (submerged aerated filter) units.

The SAF technology meets stringent European discharge consent standards making us the preferred choice for environmentally sensitive locations, such as the southern archipelago renowned for its magical wildlife, being the home to over five different species of penguins -one million in total.
