Job Description: Technician Responsible to the Operations Team Manager

Location: Central London


Role Statement

To support and represent the business on client sites whilst undertaking the tasks incorporated into the role of a Water Hygiene Technician. To work under own initiative and also as part of a team when required; to be able to work flexible hours and weekends as required.

Attributes of a Water Hygiene Technician

In depth knowledge of HSG 274 required and HTM (04) desirable. Clean current driving licence and DBS check. Computer literate, well organised and confident to speak directly with clients and internal staff. Working at height and confined space works are a key element of the role. WCS have Health and Safety as their prime objective, for both staff and clients, so all staff must accept and seek to promote this behaviour in all aspects of their role.


Key tasks and Responsibilities

Customer liaison and retention. Strict adherence to all Health and Safety documents; to wear company provided PPE as required by each task. To undertake all training as required. To work safely with chemicals and be aware of all associated hazards. To carry out dynamic risk assessments of tasks.

The job role has a wide brief, so the below may act as a guide to the core tasks that the role encompasses

Small remedial works, temperature checks, shower head cleaning, sampling, TMV servicing, tank inspection and cleaning, chemical dosing and testing of closed systems, descaling of outlets.

Weekly inspection checks of cooling towers, clean and disinfection of cooling towers.

Clean and disinfection of process systems.

Mains injection disinfections.

Softening unit checks and simple fault diagnosis.

To escalate pertinent matters to both client and line manager as required.

Measurable accountabilities through demonstration of

Knowledge of HSG 274. Time management and planning skills. Reports and associated paperwork and time sheets to be completed in an accurate and timely manner. Following SOPs and Rams as required. Wearing correct PPE and understanding of COSHH. Effective communication skills, verbal and electronically. Willingness to learn all aspects of water treatment and progress career through mentoring and training.
